To maximise commission earnings, it is crucial to understand the commission structure based on the type of action and the timing within the contract period. Below are clear recommendations on when and how to achieve the highest commissions:
For detailed commission rates, always refer to the latest rate card to ensure accurate expectations for each type of order.
The following sections provide clarification on the different broadband commissions available:
The contract period is divided into different stages, and commission eligibility changes depending on which stage the contract is in:
Contract Length | Early Life | In Life | Resign Window | Out of Contract (OOC) |
---|---|---|---|---|
24 Months | Less than 6 months | 6–18 months | 18–24 months | More than 24 months |
36 Months | Less than 18 months | 18–30 months | 30–36 months | More than 36 months |
60 Months | Less than 36 months | 36–48 months | 48–60 months | More than 60 months |
Note: Each 6-month period equals 180 days, and each 12-month period equals 365 days.
Eligible Contracts:
- SOGEA and FTTP Technologies: 24, 36, and 60-month contracts
- SoADSL Orders: 24 and 36-month contracts
Commission Payment:
- Paid at the prevailing rate on the rate card at the time the order was placed.
- Applies regardless of the completion, installation, or activation date.
Non-Commissionable Periods:
- Early Life: No commission on resign/regrade orders during this initial period.
Commissionable Periods:
- In Life: Commission is payable for upgrades and qualifying actions.
- Resign Window: High commissions are available during this phase for resigns, upgrades, and bundled services.
- Out of Contract (OOC): Resigning or upgrading while out of contract generally yields the highest commission rates.
Commissionable After "Early Life" Period
Criteria for an Upgrade:
- Technology Advancement: Moving up a technology rung (e.g., ADSL to FTTP).
- Speed Increase: Moving up a speed tier (e.g., FTTP 100 to FTTP 500).
- Higher Proposition: Upgrading to a superior service (e.g., FTTP 300 Essential to FTTP 300 Enhanced).
Not Considered Upgrades:
- Same Technology Rung: FTTC to SOGEA and ADSL to SoADSL do not qualify as technology upgrades.
- Downgrades: Moving to a lower speed tier is classified as a downgrade and does not qualify for commission.
Commissionable During:
- Resign Window
- Out of Contract Period
Definition: Renewing the contract with the same technology and proposition specification.
Examples:
- SOGEA to SOGEA
- Enhanced to Enhanced
- FTTP76 to FTTP100 is considered "No Change."
Not Commissionable at Any Point
Definition: Entering a new contract with:
Handling: Downgrade requests should be processed through the Retention channel only.
Provide and Cease Orders:
If a BT Partner issues a provide and cease order instead of a resign or regrade, any commission paid will be clawed back.
